Please join the Joint Symposium RESPONDING TO THE SOCIAL, CULTURAL AND ECONOMIC IMPACTS OF VIRAL HEPATITIS.
Viral hepatitis remains the leading cause of liver cancer at a global level and in Asia in 2020, primary liver cancer was the second leading cause of cancer mortality, with this region reporting 72.5% of new liver cancer cases and 73.3% of liver cancer deaths globally.
Understanding the clinical, scientific, economic and social implications of viral hepatitis infection is critical for eliminating viral hepatitis, and its long-term sequela, liver cancer.
This Symposium uses the theme of this year’s Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL) meeting - Innovation and Paradigm Shift in Hepatology – and investigates the implications of this for social and public health responses to viral hepatitis and liver cancer. The presentations look at the various challenges encountered by people living with hepatitis and considers the many contexts in which viral hepatitis is diagnosed and experienced.”
