Project ECHO

Hep Free Hawaiʻi continues to collaborate with the Hawai’i Health & Harm Reduction Center (HHHRC), Hawai’i Learning Groups, and the Hawaiʻi Department of Health to implement a harm-reduction based ECHO® program in Hawai’i. Together, we will provide regular case-based and web-based learning opportunities with experts for primary care providers and other members of the healthcare team on viral hepatitis and related health conditions.

Hawaiʻi ECHO - Hepatitis C (2023)

In 2023, a second Hawaiʻi Hepatitis C ECHO Program was launched.

This free CME/CPE tele-learning program engaged more than 65 unique providers to effectively screen, manage, and treat hepatitis C through didactic topics from experts combined with weekly case presentations.The 12-session series ran weekly from August 28 to November 20, 2023. This ECHO series was sponsored by the Hawaiʻi Department of Health in partnership with Hawaiʻi Learning Groups, Hawaiʻi Health & Harm Reduction Center, and Hep Free Hawaiʻi.

Hawaiʻi ECHO - Hepatitis B (2022)

In 2022, the inaugural Hawaiʻi Hepatitis B ECHO Program was launched.

The free CME/CPE tele-learning program enhanced capacity for more than 80 unique providers to effectively screen, manage, and treat hepatitis B through didactic topics from experts combined with weekly case presentations. The 16-session series ran weekly from August 22 to December 12, 2022.

This ECHO series was sponsored by the Hawaiʻi Department of Health in partnership with Hep Free Hawaiʻi, Hawaiʻi Health & Harm Reduction Center, and Hawaiʻi Learning Groups.

Hawaiʻi ECHO - Hepatitis C (2021)

In 2021, Hawai’i Health & Harm Reduction Center was awarded a grant to implement a harm-reduction based ECHO® program on Hepatitis C in Hawai’i. In collaboration with Hawai’i Learning Groups and Hep Free Hawai’i, the Harm Reduction ECHO: Hepatitis and Liver Health series ran from January 15 to April 30, 2021. The series provided regular case-based and web-based learning opportunities from experts to increase skills, confidence, and capacity among primary care providers to evaluate common liver conditions and to treat hepatitis C.
