Independent Lens: Apart from PBS Hawai'i @2PM HST

Join us for the national advanced virtual screening of the Independent Lens film, Apart.

Since the beginning of the War on Drugs, the number of women in U.S. prisons has grown drastically. The majority are mothers.

Three unforgettable formerly incarcerated mothers, jailed for drug-related charges, fight to overcome alienation—and a society that labels them “felons”—to readjust to life with their families.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by President and CEO Ron Mizutani. Panelists include:

  • Noriko Namiki, Chief Executive Officer, YWCA O'ahu

  • Jen Wilber, Director of Advocacy, YWCA Oahu

  • Lois Kim, a Fernhurst Alumni who will share her experience having gone through incarceration

Registration closes on Thursday, February 10 at 10:00 a.m. HST.

After you register, you will receive a separate email with the virtual screening details closer to the event date. We look forward to having you join us!

If you have any questions, please email Kainoa Sanford at ksanford@pbshawaii.org.
