Supervised Consumption Sites: Benefits and Addressing Misconceptions @3:30PM HST

GLIDE’s Center for Social Justice and the Safer Inside Coalition present a free virtual event to engage the community in a conversation about supervised consumption services (SCS). SCS — also known as safe consumption sites, safe injection sites, overdose prevention programs, or overdose prevention sites — are locations where people can use drugs with expert, medical supervision and sterile supplies. Fatal drug overdoses are a pressing problem across the country, and SCS are an effective and evidence-based public health intervention to reduce health and safety problems associated with drug use, including public drug use, HIV and hepatitis infections, and overdose deaths. This event will include a presentation about SCS and the overdose crisis in San Francisco. Join us as we hear from experts in the field, learn about associated legislative efforts, ask questions, and engage with each other about what SCS can mean for our community.
