Reducing Hep B Infection in Nigeria w Birth Dose Vaccines @4AM HST

Chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a significant global health concern, with 296 million individuals affected worldwide. Between 20% and 30% of those chronically infected will develop life-threatening complications, including liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). To prevent mother to child (MTC) transmission of hepatitis B during birth, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that all countries include at minimum the three doses of hepatitis B vaccine within the routine immunization schedule with the first dose given within 24 hours of birth. Nigeria faces one of the highest burdens of HBV prevalence of 20% and accounts for 8.3% of the global burden of disease. In efforts to promote hepatitis B prevention through timely birth dose, the Hepatitis B Foundation invites you to attend a webinar on March 17th at 10 AM Eastern Time, 3 PM West Africa Time.

For people in Hawai’i, be sure to register to get the webinar recording afterwards!
